"Dr. Rady Rahban is truly an Artist. I had my surgery for Diastasis Recti a couple of months ago and I cannot Thank Dr.Rahban enough for it. He is truly amazing.
"My journey began 7 years ago when I was expecting my first child. I have always had a very fit petite body type until I got pregnant. During my first pregnancy, I gained 75 lbs and my baby was born at 10 lbs via a c-section. Once I recovered from the delivery and my doctor gave me the go, to start exercising, I immediately started working towards losing all the excess weight. It took almost 2 years to get back to somewhat closer to how I looked during my first trimester. But I never went back to how I looked before pregnancy (which does happen in many cases). After 2 years of rigorous diet and exercising, I still had some bulging of my stomach and didn’t look completely normal, as I would suppose after working out religiously for 2 years. I consulted my OBGYN at Kaiser and wasn’t even once told of possibly having Diastasis Recti (splitting of the abdomen muscles during pregnancy). The doctor told me that this is quite normal after delivering babies via c-section and hence I accepted my fate and decided to live with it.
"Then fast forward one more year and I got pregnant with my second child. This time I gained around 70 lbs by the end of my pregnancy and my baby was 11 lbs, delivered via another c-section. Believing what I had heard from my doctors after my first delivery, I decided to start boot camp and a healthy diet, as soon as I was permitted by my doctor. This time around I came back to my first-trimester weight in a years time. But this time my tummy was bulging even more than it was the first time around. I started focusing on more ab exercises in belief, that it would go down. One more year later, I started having a lot of lower back pain and getting out of bed in the morning or straightening myself up after bending was extremely painful. I had to wear maternity pants with a girdle around my waist to relieve myself from severe lower back pain. Playing with my kids started to become an option. Let's say that it was just getting worst day by day.
"During this phase, we had a new trainer at the boot camp I go to, who also happened to be a physio-therapist. Upon talking to her about my ab and lower back pain issue, she enlightened me that I possibly had Diastasis Recti. She did a quick finger check between my ab muscles (a little above my navel) and confirmed that I had Diastasis Recti. She suggested I do some ab exercises at home that would naturally close the gap between my ab muscles which would reduce the bulging. After 30 days of regularly practicing the ab exercises, I had zero progress in closing the gap. My trainer then suggested I see a doctor, to get it checked and see what they say.
"I then immediately made an appointment with a General surgeon at Kaiser (which I was referred by my family practitioner) to see what options I have. I was flat out told by the general surgeon that my gap wasn’t that big and since they do not perform any surgeries at Kaiser, I should wear a girdle for the rest of my life and live with it. After much pressing, she suggested that I could see a plastic surgeon at Kaiser who could help me get rid of all the excess loose skin which might take some weight off of my back. So then I made an appointment to see a plastic surgeon at Kaiser. She confirmed that I had Diastasis Recti and also that the gap wasn’t very big. She gave me the option of having surgery to close the gap, but it would be an out of pocket cost, as my insurance wouldn’t cover for it, because it wasn’t severe and my loose skin wasn’t sagging down to my thighs. She also mentioned that there was no guarantee that I would have a somewhat but not completely flat tummy after this surgery, (I looked like I was 4 months pregnant at that time, even after the weight loss) which made me doubt her as a good plastic surgeon. I decided to walk out of there and started researching for another doctor. I figured that since insurance isn’t going to cover this surgery, I could go to any doctor outside of my coverage.
"I started googling the best plastic surgeons in Los Angeles and came across Dr. Rahban’s website. Once I saw his work on his website I was blown away, but thought it was too good to be true. I questioned every case/picture I saw on his website - thinking maybe the patient didn’t have a severe case or were a thinner body type, to begin with, which is why there were after pictures of a lean tight body. I wasn't ready to believe that any doctor could be this good.
"I spent 3 months researching other doctors and no one was nearly as good as Dr.Rahban. So I decided to make a consultation appointment. At the appointment, I decided to not say anything about my prior experience with Kaiser until after my consultation. Dr.Rahban immediately explained/showed me how big a gap I had (95% gap) in my abdomen due to Diastasis Recti. I was shocked to see it. After the examination, he asked me if I had been to another doctor prior to this appointment and that's when I told him about my experience with Kaiser. He wasn’t surprised at all. He said this is very common with a majority of the hospitals since Insurance doesn’t cover it. He was very patient with me, answering all my questions and concerns, and covered each and every detail regarding the surgery and post-op measures. He was very honest when it came to what kind of surgery should I go for - Diastasis Recti with a regular tummy tuck or a 2/3rd or a full body lift. He explained all of it in detail and put across his opinion as to what would be better for a perfect look for my body type. Remember, I popped out 2 babies over 10 lbs, which had left me with a TON of loose skin and more after my weight loss. I took a couple more months wrapping my head around all this information and figuring out the logistics of budgeting the cost and who would watch my kids post-op and how much help would I need from my husband (we don’t have any family in this country). Once, I had it all figured out, I contacted Dr.Rahban and locked a date for my surgery.
"Finally, it was the day of my surgery and I was a nervous wreck. All kinds of thoughts regarding the surgery and post-surgery hovered my mind. Dr. Rahban took once look at my face and instantly started calming me down with his confidence. He explained everything again in detail and assured me that I would be absolutely fine post-op. His words calmed me instantly and I walked in for surgery. Four and half hours later, I was out of surgery and then started my journey to recovery.
"Dr.Rahban and his team were very hands-on with step-by-step instructions, one week at a time, as to what was needed to be done once home until my first appointment after a week and going forward. At my first appointment, when the bandages and binding were taken off and I saw my tummy, I was in shock. I couldn’t believe what I saw ... I had a Flat Sleek stomach. Dr.Rahban had done an incredible job. Dr.Rahban and his team were consistent with their instructions at every appointment and I followed them to the T, which is the result of the body I have now. I was just plain lucky to have stumbled upon Dr.Rahban’s website, as I had no one to educate me about the condition I had and the fact that the condition could not only be fixed but also that I would get back my pre-pregnancy body.
"I really hope and wish to work towards educating expecting/pregnant women about this condition and also take measures to have insurance companies start covering this since it is caused during pregnancy which is a natural phenomenon.
"I am now 2 months post-op, with a flat tummy, and NO back pain. It's like I have this new energized body.
"All thanks to Dr.Rahban. I wouldn’t have found anyone better than him. He is simply the Best of the Best."
"So I had my 6 week follow up, and am ecstatic with my results so far!! I had a more complicated case and had to be extremely careful with who would correct my abdomen. I had a realistic perspective of my results and so far I amazed with how it turned out."
"Dr. Rady Rahban is the best. It is not often that I meet a doctor that I have absolutely no reservations at all about.
"I am a 60-year-old African American woman from Gary, Indiana. I made the trip to California after my daughter and I did a lot of research for an excellent doctor to repair an abdominal condition called Diastasis Recti . If you still look pregnant months after giving birth, you may have Diastasis Recti. That's what they call it when the rectus abdominis muscles in your abdomen separate during pregnancy, leaving a gap that allows your belly to pooch out. This was a condition that had been a thorn in my side for at least 25 years. Too often I heard about surgeries gone wrong, and you can never be absolutely sure that something won't go wrong but especially being a woman of color, I heard that I was more than likely going to develop keloid scars.
"I am pleased to announce that my surgery was an absolute success, I am now 7 weeks post-op and I am doing wonderfully. Dr. Rahban is an honest doctor. He made sure to let me know that I would still have work to do when I healed because of my age and prior physical condition. He will not try to push products or additional procedures on you and he was 100% straight-forward in explaining all the risks, limitations, and concerns before the surgery.
"The day of the surgery, I was greeted and prepared by an amazing clinic staff at the surgery center in Beverly Hills. Most doctors let their assistants close the patient after completing the bulk of the surgery, but not Dr. Rahban. That can be a disadvantage because the closures might not heal as well if the assistant is not as skilled as the surgeon. Dr. Rahban’s philosophy is that he does the procedure from start to finish. He takes his time and cuts no corners, from beginning to end. I couldn’t be happier.
"The recovery is tough at first, but again, I knew exactly what to expect because I was so well-informed before the surgery. Additionally, Dr. Rahban and his in-office staff were always willing to answer any questions or concerns that arose in-between my post-op appointments. Now, I’m able to return to my normal activities, wear clothes that I could never wear before, and live the life of confidence that I’ve always dreamed up.
"Plastic surgery is a huge financial and physical commitment. If you have ever watched the cable show "Botched" it should put a little fear in you to make sure that you choose the correct surgeon. But trust me when I say that Dr. Rahban is the real deal. I would urge you to still do your own research before pursuing plastic surgery, but I have no doubt that I made an excellent decision."
"On November 28th, 2018, I underwent the most life altering procedure of my life. Not a day goes by that I don’t feel extremely grateful that I came into the talented hands of Diastasis Recti expert, Dr. Rahban. I suffered from Diastasis Recti and was experiencing chronic low back pain which robbed me the ability to live the active life I’ve always lived which was that of a former pro athlete.
"I was at a point to where, in order for me to get through my day and my responsibilities as a dedicated mom of 3 and wife, I had to wear a girdle and a back brace on top of the girdle. I had tried all conventional means to correct my DR – 3 rounds of physical therapy, and nearly every program out there that claimed to “cure” DR. All which was proven unsuccessful which I later learned why. My core was dysfunctional, abdominal muscles useless, and my connective tissue was extremely compromised. I broke down in tears not knowing what to do. I just couldn’t live like this anymore and was determined to seek answers.
"For the next year, I spent countless hours researching techniques, Drs., and the general understanding of what was occurring inside my body. I wasn’t in a position to settle for anything other than the best… I had a severe case and needed a surgeon who knew what he was doing. My whole family was counting on me!
"After many consults and still feeling unsettled, I ended up traveling from Dallas to LA specifically to seek the expert advise of Dr. Rahban. I knew right then and there, I had found my surgeon!! What an amazing feeling that was, a weight lifted off my shoulders!
"Trust me when I say your research can come to an end!! Dr. Rahban is an elite surgeon who not only has the knowledge, but has an IMMENSE skillset to correct this condition. He is incredibly meticulous, precise, and technically savvy.
"One of the major priorities that impacted my decision to go with Dr. Rahban besides his incredible results, is he doesn't use mesh... this is HUGE!! Especially in my case where nearly all Drs. said it wouldn't be possible without mesh. DR. Rahban has mastered a technique in which he uses your own body tissue to reinforce the tissue. I was appalled an so happy to hear!!
"In terms of post op care, I was floored by how responsive, caring, and attentive Dr. Rahban was alongside his amazing staff! They really take every patient to heart and not only celebrate with you, but are there for you every step of the way! In terms of pain, it was not nearly as bad as I’d anticipated, very easily managed! I was off all pain meds by the morning of the 3rd day. I was very pleasantly surprised!
"It's with immense gratitude that I report that shortly after surgery, my lower back pain was GONE!!! I could not believe it. This time I was crying out of pure happiness! Not only was my core back to being a functioning part of my body, but the aesthetic result goes beyond anything I could’ve ever imagined!! Dr. Rahban is a true artist! My tummy is flat, my incision is low and thin, easily concealed below the bikini line, and my newly created belly button is so natural looking!! I have finally worn a bikini for the first time in nearly 7 years!!!
"Dr. Rahban, THANK YOU with all my heart for all that you have done, you’ve given me my life back!! All the time and research paid off because it led me to YOU. Thank you a million times over!!!"
"I went to Dr. Rahban for a tummy tuck, number one because I had a huge tattoo on my lower abdomen and didn't want to go through laser removal, and since I had just had my baby I said why not get a tummy tuck?
"I did consult with another doctor beforehand and she could not even compare to Dr. Rahban. She was more all about the money and didn't care about me and my concerns. When I saw Dr.Rahban all he cared about was me and my concerns. He didn't push any treatment. He said I needed to make sure this was something I wanted to do, and he also told me not to worry about the tattoo because he would make sure all of it was gone.
"I made my decision and went through with it and all I can say is it was the best decision i have made.
"I am about a month and a half out and I love my stomach. I look like a teen again, lol. He did such a great job! My scar is very thin and I'm sure in a couple months I won't even have one.
"Another thing I don't wanna forget is I was pleased to know that Dr. Rahban also does a whole bunch of volunteer work in other countries for children in need. God bless Dr.Rahban for that because there are not many doctors like that. If I ever need anything else done I will be right back in Dr. Rahban's consult chair." - Liz N.
"Dr. Rahban is simply THE BEST!!! He has changed my life in so many wonderful ways. I will forever be thankful to him & his fabulous staff.
"Dr. Rahban did a remarkable job on my 9 hr. long "body lift" surgery. I had heard that this particular procedure was the most painful of them all. I had many apprehensions in the beginning; however, Dr. Rahban's calm and positive bedside manner made me feel reassured that I would be just fine.
"I truly was impressed that he went the extra mile for me. His attention to detail is unlike any other. Not only was he extremely attentive but he was
efficient, compassionate, and very patient with me. I'm so grateful that my doctor was able to prep me not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well. It made my recovery a very smooth process.
"This surgery has certainly enriched my life. He has given me a renewed sense of self confidence. For the first time in my life I'll be able to wear a two piece bikini this summer!! I adore my new body and the skin I'm in. I'll forever be appreciative for his unflagging efforts. Thank you, thank you, thank you!" - Jennifer W.
"I just had my bandages removed by Dr. Rahban from my procedure. Wow!
"I'm a 46 yo male who exercises regularly. I couldn't loose that extra fat from my lower abs and flanks. I met with Dr Rahban and he let me know exactly what areas he could refine.
"Dr. Rahban and his staff are ultimate professionals. His entire staff took a personal interest along the way.
"My procedure was more than successful. I did not experience the swelling, bruising, or pain that are usually associated with liposuction. All this I credit to his expertise." - Mike E.
