Just before surgery, Dr. Rahban will mark the area to be reduced and corrected, ensuring that the result will be the exact right amount of reduction. Once agreed, the surgery will start when the local anesthesia has gone into effect. The surgery will take approximately an hour to two hours, and can be performed on both lips, or only on the lip causing the imbalance; usually the lower lip. To avoid scarring, the incisions are made on the inside of the lips. Our Beverly Hills lip reduction and lip correction is a safe and simple procedure and once completed, you can return home to relax. You will be given instructions on how to care for the incisions, the use of pain medication and guidelines on eating and maintaining oral hygiene.

There will be swelling which can be controlled using ice packs as instructed by Dr. Rahban. Medications may be given to assist with swelling as well as any pain. Swelling will diminish within a few days, but it may take several weeks for all the swelling to disappear. There may also be some external bruising and redness in the treatment area.

You can return to work in a week but should avoid any strenuous contact sports for several weeks. Sleep in an elevated position for the first two weeks using a few pillows under your upper back and head. Lying flat will cause swelling.
